TKS welcomes Tatsuya Nakatani to Lexington!

The Kentucky School is excited to welcome percussionists Tatsuya Nakatani and Lexington’s own Dave Farris who will be performing on Wednesday, March 27th. Each will perform a solo set, then the pair will collaborate to live score David Andree’s experimental video, "New Sight." The show will get started at 8pm.

“Tatsuya Nakatani is an avant-garde sound artist, composer, and master percussionist originally from Osaka, Japan. Based in the USA since 1994, he lives in Truth or Consequences, NM. Since the late 1990’s, Nakatani has released over 80 recordings in the USA and Europe and has toured extensively; performing solo, in collaboration with other artists, and with his large ensemble project - the Nakatani Gong Orchestra. He presents masterclasses, workshops, and lectures across the USA and around the world.”

“Dave Farris has traveled the globe, studying with great percussionists like Madawo Gideon Folie Alorwoyie (Ghana), Anthony Carillo (Puerto Rico), Ya Ya Diallo (Mali), Raj Pandya (India), and Jim Campbell (USA). Dave has performed with the great jazz organist Jack McDuff and Parliment Funkadelic co-founder Bernie Worrell.”
